The latest TrainingPeaks Virtual update, v0.4.12, released February 10th, begins the rollout of long-awaited and highly sought after graphic enhancements.
Editor’s note: Since early June 2023, we’ve highlighted the rapid evolution of indieVelo with weekly update posts. Not everyone receives the emails or is a member of the various social media groups, and the more searchable mentions available, the better to promote the indieVelo, err, Training Peaks Virtual vision. The name is different, and the once-a-week cadence might change, but the commitment to promoting the platform hasn’t wavered.
A Note From the George Gilbert, TrainingPeaks Virtual Founder: |
TrainingPeaks Virtual took another big step forward this week with work starting on improving the graphics!
First up are the roadside objects (trees, bushes, rocks etc.) that help make the world feel more full and alive, as well as giving a sense of speed and scale as you ride by. In future weeks, we’ll continue to improve these as well as adding more landmarks, in-app equipment (bikes, wheels, etc.), and reshaping the UI.
While there is still a lot more to do, it feels great to have started this important piece of work, and your feedback remains a crucial part of how we extend and develop this area. Please keep your thoughts and suggestions coming on the TrainingPeaks Virtual UserVoice forum, where you can make new suggestions and discuss/vote on those from others.
Other big changes include a significant number of updates to https://tpvirtualhub.com, including the ability to preview the workout to be done in a group workout event, as well as improved events, results, and search pages. As always, there’s also a wide range of background improvements to stability and performance to keep everything running smoothly.
In Episode 58 of the Virtual Velo Podcast, Chris and Emma welcome Dirk Friel, co-founder and Chief Evangelist of Training Peaks, and Dr. George Gilbert, the creator of indieVelo, to discuss their newly formed partnership and the launch of Training Peaks Virtual.
