The latest TrainingPeaks Virtual update, v0.4.11, released February 4th, gives users the ability to teleport and adds a new workout page!
Editor’s note: Since early June 2023, we’ve highlighted the rapid evolution of indieVelo with weekly update posts. Not everyone receives the emails or is a member of the various social media groups, and the more searchable mentions available, the better to promote the indieVelo, err, Training Peaks Virtual vision. The name is different, and the once-a-week cadence might change, but the commitment to promoting the platform hasn’t wavered.
A Note From the George Gilbert, TrainingPeaks Virtual Founder: |
This week’s release of TrainingPeaks Virtual delivers more of the features you’ve been requesting. Headlining is the ability to change what route you’re on mid-ride – at any time just use the action bar at the bottom of the screen to select the new route menu, and you will seamlessly teleport to the start, ready to go.
This gives you the flexibility to structure your rides however you like; perhaps a warmup on the flat, before jumping to some hills, or maybe you just want to tick off lots of route completion achievements in a single-ride… the choice is now yours.
Other big changes include the introduction of a new workout confirmation page, making it easy and intuitive to select your workout options (including which route to ride) before jumping into your session.
In Episode 58 of the Virtual Velo Podcast, Chris and Emma welcome Dirk Friel, co-founder and Chief Evangelist of Training Peaks, and Dr. George Gilbert, the creator of indieVelo, to discuss their newly formed partnership and the launch of Training Peaks Virtual.
Also included are wide range of fixes and improvements to device pairing that address common issues with ERG mode, sensors and dropouts. There are also new monthly challenges for February, including the opportunity to ride a Keirin race (3 laps behind a pacer on TrainingPeaks Virtual’s velodrome to slowly bring you up to race speed, and then one lap flat out to the finish) to test out your sprinting skills and tactics!
As ever, these weekly updates are driven by us listening to you. Please keep your feedback coming on the TrainingPeaks Virtual UserVoice forum where you can make new suggestions and discuss / vote on those from others. With just one month gone, it’s already shaping up to be an amazing year, and we’re really looking forward to continuing to work together with the community to build a better and better online cycling experience with each release.
