The latest indieVelo update V0.2.45 released April 15, 2024, supports AppleTV using AirPlay/Mirroring and joining a Team from within the app.
indieVelo continues to push forward with its mission to define the future of virtual sport. This week’s release (see below for full details) focuses on helping you ride how and with who you want.
AppleTV: indieVelo now fully supports riding on AppleTV using AirPlay/ Mirroring from an iOS device (iPhone / iPad). This also has the advantage of giving you a mobile touch-screen device to fully control all aspects of your ride, chat, etc., as well as full Bluetooth connectivity to multiple devices rather than needing to use the more limited ATV remote.
Here’s how to access the iOS version of indieVelo:
- Click here to join the Founder’s club: https://indievelo.com/checkouts/indievelo-founder/
- Email help@indievelo.com and provide your AppStore email address.
- You will receive a return email with the relevant permissions needed for download.
Team Discovery: indieVelo has consistently recognized that teams and team riding are essential to the online experience. This has been built into the application’s DNA from day 1. This release extends that further by allowing teams to be discovered and joined from within the application.
From the “Active Team” menu, you can now see all the registered teams, their kits when they ride, and how they describe themselves. Where Team Managers have chosen to have open membership, you can also just click a button on the screen to send a request to join them.
As usual, there are also a huge number of other additions, improvements, and fixes throughout. These cover everything from Group Rides and Connectivity to UIs and APIs, all while continuing to drive forward all the back-end and under-the-covers infrastructure changes needed to keep everything running smoothly.
Finally, time is starting to run out to find the 5 Traditional Easter Eggs hidden around the indieVelo world before they disappear. One final set of clues before the answers next week:
1) Nestled between the two climbs on the main island.
2) Behind a fence in one of the house gardens.
3) At the top of the highest mountain (of course!).
4) At the bottom of the longest climb.
5) In the middle of a road… 👀
Note for Mac Bluetooth users: If you find that the Bluetooth icon on the pairing screen has turned red, please follow the instructions linked from https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/apple-mac-ble-permissions/ to first completely remove, and then re-add, permission for indieVelo to use the Mac Bluetooth connection.

If all has gone well, you shouldn’t have to do anything to get the new version, as indieVelo will self-update the next time you start it up. If you find any problems, however, instructions on how to manually update are on the website: https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/updates
Please note that, depending on when you installed indieVelo, you may see a warning message recommending that you update the installer/launcher to the latest version. If you see this, download it again from https://indievelo.com/downloads, and the update will automatically apply. The entire process typically takes a minute or two, often much less.
The full patch notes are below!
“Thank you once again to everyone for your continued help and support. With 100% of indieVelo’s roadmap based on your ideas for what you want, please do keep your ideas and suggestions coming for what you would like to see in the next releases.”
