The indieVelo "Coastal Loop Forward" Route-16km (10 mi), elevation 41m (134ft)-follows the coastal perimeter of The Island counter-clockwise.
Route Description
One of the eighteen original Beta routes rolled out on The Island in 2023, Coastal Loop Forward begins in the eastern portion of The Island, from the lap gate, with a minimal lead-in, and heads north.
After riding 6.9 km/4.2 mi., you will reach the High/Low road split, which, in an event, is randomly selected.
One group will go on the high road, and the others will go on the low road. Technically, there is no difference, but the split creates a tactical element mid-race, with the finish still about half a lap away.
At 10.5km/6.5 mi. you will approach the entry of the Forest Velodrome. If the pace is high (40kph or 24mph and above), mind the sharp corner at 14km/8.7 mi.—hit it too fast, and you risk being slowed by auto braking. Plan to pick a good line to take tactical advantage.
