The latest Training Peaks Virtual update, v0.4.2, released November 12th, 2024, makes the user interface (UI) easier and more intuitive.
Editor’s note: Since early June 2023, we’ve highlighted the rapid evolution of indieVelo with weekly update posts. Not everyone receives the emails or is a member of the various social media groups, and the more searchable mentions available, the better to promote the indieVelo, err, Training Peaks Virtual vision. The name is different, and the once-a-week cadence might change, but the commitment to promoting the platform hasn’t wavered.
TrainingPeaks Virtual continues to welcome record numbers of new riders daily, and TP Virtual is thrilled to see this growth. TrainingPeaks Virtual prioritizes delivering the features, improvements, and fixes requested by the community. TrainingPeaks Virtual remains committed to creating the best software for training and racing needs, with user feedback driving all efforts.
This week’s release (see below for full details) includes numerous smaller updates aimed at making the user interface (UI) easier and more intuitive. As TP Virtual rapidly scales up to accommodate a growing user base, the development team has been enhancing the platform’s background infrastructure to ensure menus and leaderboards remain smooth, responsive, and compatible with a wider range of devices.
TrainingPeaks Virtual encourages the community to continue sharing thoughts and suggestions about what to implement next. Visit the dedicated TrainingPeaks Virtual UserVoice forum to share, discuss, and vote on ideas.
In Episode 58 of the Virtual Velo Podcast, Chris and Emma welcome Dirk Friel, co-founder and Chief Evangelist of Training Peaks, and Dr. George Gilbert, the creator of indieVelo, to discuss their newly formed partnership and the launch of Training Peaks Virtual. The collaboration combines indieVelo’s innovative approach to virtual cycling and esports with Training Peaks’ well-established focus on athlete training and performance.
As usual, there are also a large number of other additions, improvements, and fixes. These mainly focus on the UI and background infrastructure to make sure everything keeps running smoothly and is as easy as possible to use as we continue to scale up rapidly.
Additionally, the automated Performance Verification checks that are run for every rider in every race have been extended, and Group Rides and Group Workouts now keep riders of different abilities together better when using the fully configurable strength rubberbanding options.
Thank you all again. Please do keep your ideas and suggestions coming for what else you would like to see in future TrainingPeaks Virtual releases. Our core focus remains providing committed athletes, coaches and event organisers with the infrastructure you need to get the most out of your training and racing.
TrainingPeaks Virtual will just self-update the next time you open the app. If you find any problems, please follow instructions on how to manually update here.
