The latest indieVelo update V0.2.42 released March 25, 2024, includes a fun Easter egg hunt and 7 new routes spanning 40 km of new roads.
The indieVelo community is buzzing with excitement as we kick off our Second Annual indieVelo Easter Egg Hunt!
Why an Easter Egg Hunt? One of the early bits of community feedback on indieVelo was that riders wanted something more than just April Fools’ pranks. We wanted something unique and interesting that would enhance our training, which is, after all, the main reason why most people ride indoors in the first place.
So, for the next few weeks, there will once again be five brightly colored traditional Easter Eggs scattered throughout the world. There are no clues, to begin with, but all of them can be seen from the road as you cycle around—your challenge is to go out and explore and try to find all five!
To help (or hinder), this week’s release (see below for full details) also contains 40km of new roads and 7 new routes covering over 200km of extra riding to try and spot them. Most of these roads and routes crisscross the mountain, creating many new junctions and climbing options.
For example, you can now climb the lower slopes on the south face, tackle some hilly circuits on the central plateau, go up further on the mountain’s north face, then switch again to the central route to the summit. Variety is the spice of cycling life, and indieVelo now lets you mix up your mountain training every ride.
Beyond the Hunt, the release includes many other additions, improvements, and fixes.
I want to thank Mike Swart for his work on https://indievelohub.com.
Event results are now just a click away, and event organizers can choose to be automatically sent a link to their event results immediately after the last rider crosses the line so they can easily share and view them online.
Note for Mac Bluetooth users: If you find that the Bluetooth icon on the pairing screen has turned red, please follow the instructions linked from https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/apple-mac-ble-permissions/ to first completely remove, and then re-add, permission for indieVelo to use the Mac Bluetooth connection.

If all has gone well, you shouldn’t have to do anything to get the new version, as indieVelo will self-update the next time you start it up. If you find any problems, however, instructions on how to manually update are on the website: https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/updates
Please note that, depending on when you installed indieVelo, you may see a warning message recommending that you update the installer/launcher to the latest version. If you see this, download it again from https://indievelo.com/downloads, and the update will automatically apply. The entire process typically takes a minute or two, often much less.
The full patch notes are below!
“Other improvements include manual braking, event UIs/management, trainer compatibility, late-joining of group rides, and much, much more. All of these come from your suggestions, so please do keep them coming. Thank you all again for your continued support and encouragement. Remember, it’s not just about the Eggs; it’s about the journey, the camaraderie, and the thrill of discovery—happy cycling!”
