The latest indieVelo update V0.2.20 released October 23, 2023, brings automated workout synchronization with TrainingPeaks and intervals icu.
Cycling is hard work – I mean, the effort is the whole point, especially when you’re indoors rather than going from A to B. However, the tools you use for cycling, indieVelo or otherwise, shouldn’t be; for maximum enjoyment and benefit on the bike, everything off of it needs to be as easy as possible!
With the rapidly increasing number of people on indieVelo (the total number of riders has now nearly doubled in just the last three weeks), that focus on smoothing out the rough edges so that you can do everything you want without any extra hassle has never been more critical.
This week’s release (see below for full details), therefore, headlines with one of the most requested features for making training as easy as possible – fully automated daily synchronization of workouts with TrainingPeaks and intervals icu. Once configured, log into indieVelo as usual, and any scheduled workouts you have in those 3rd party calendars for that day will immediately appear in indieVelo ready for you to do. It Just Works (TM). Instantly.
Other updates in the release include significantly improving the speed of pairing over Bluetooth on Apple Macs, better all-around hardware compatibility and tolerance of noisy connections, and the ability for event organizers to run masters racing using the international standard UCI age bands for riders. On top of all that, there’s the usual array of your suggestions for quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and infrastructure work to make sure everything keeps running as smoothly as we continue to grow in the future.
(*) To configure workout synchronization, connect your account to TrainingPeaks or intervals icu using the Connected Accounts button on the Profile tab in The Hub. Once set up, synchronization will happen every time you login without you having to do anything else again.
Note that if you have previously connected an intervals icu account, you must re-connect it to grant permission to access their calendar. Previous TrainingPeaks connections will work already (as you already gave those permissions when you connected the first time).

If all has gone well, you shouldn’t have to do anything to get the new version, as indieVelo will self-update the next time you start it up. If you find any problems, however, instructions on how to manually update are on the website: https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/updates
Please note that, depending on when you installed indieVelo, you may see a warning message recommending that you update the installer/launcher to the latest version. If you see this, download it again from https://indievelo.com/downloads, and the update will automatically apply. The entire process typically takes a minute or two, often much less.
The full patch notes are below!
“Thank you all once more for your enthusiastic encouragement and ideas for future improvements. Please do keep them coming, as every thought and suggestion helps to improve indieVelo for both you and everyone else. I look forward to seeing what we can build together in the weeks and months to come!“
