The indieVelo "Two Lake Loop" Route-20.4km (12.7 mi), elevation 144m (472 ft)-mainly flat with a few small rollers!
Route Description
One of the original Beta routes rolled out on The Island in 2023, the Two Lake Loop is a route that spans 20.4 km (12.7 miles) with an elevation gain of 144 m (472 feet), making it a good fit for powerhouse riders, with minor bumps along the road, which should not necessarily help climbers but will undoubtedly make the difference.
The route starts from the East Lap Gate and features two main segments: a loop around North Lake and another around South Lake. The first notable stretch begins at the 5 km (3.1 miles) mark, circling North Lake in a circuit. The section has three hills:
- 450 m (1,476 feet) long with a 5% average gradient
- 250 m (820 feet) long with a 5% average gradient
- 300 m (984 feet) long with a 3% average gradient
After completing the North Lake loop, the route heads south toward South Lake along the east coast. This segment is predominantly flat until the 14.8 km (9.2 miles) point.
Here, you’ll encounter a 500 m (1,640 feet) bump with a 4% average gradient, adding some variety and spicing up the pack before entering the South Lake loop.
The final chance to extract yourself from the group occurs at the 17.1 km (10.6 miles) mark, where the last kilometer of the South Lake loop features a 2.1% average gradient.
After this, it’s a flat 2 km (1.2 miles) to the finish line, setting the stage for a galloping sprint finish.
