The indieVelo "Coastal Loop Reverse" Route-15.9km (9.8 mi), elevation 41m (134 ft)-follows the perimeter of The Island clockwise!
Route Description
One of the eighteen original Beta routes rolled out on The Island in 2023, Coastal Loop Reverse is a 15.9 km (approx. 9.8 mi) circuit with a minimal 41m elevation (around 134.5 ft). With a lead-in of just 0.1 km, the route begins at the lap gate in the eastern part of The Island and proceeds south in a clockwise direction.
This route is primarily flat, making it ideal for sprinters. To successfully break away, take full advantage of indieVelo’s unique features like wind effects, braking corners, and roundabout splits.
The singular challenge on this route appears around the 7 km (approx. 4.3 mi) mark—a 800m (around 0.5 mi) bump averaging a 2% gradient. This obstacle comes right before a road split at 7.8 km (approx. 4.8 mi).
At this junction, some riders will take the high road while others will take the low road. Though there’s no technical difference between the two, the split adds a tactical layer to the race, opening up opportunities for breakaways with the finish line still roughly half a lap away.
Remember to watch your speed at sharp turns; triggering the auto-braking feature could cost you extra watts as you strive to rejoin the pack.
