The latest indieVelo update, v0.3.11, released September 16th, 2024, brings stage race format functionality, including yellow, green, polka dot, and white leader's jerseys.
Stage racing is a vital part of what makes cycling iconic. As crucial as one-off events are, multi-day events such as the Tour de France truly transcend the sport.
indieVelo has been deliberately built from the ground up to support online events in all their forms: scratch races, points races, team / individual time trials, eliminations, team races, group rides, group workouts, and, of course, event series & stage racing.
This week’s release (see below for full details) extends that further by enabling anyone organizing an event to assign Yellow, Green, Polka Dot, and White jerseys to riders.
For now, these are deliberately “unbranded” jerseys, but the intention is to quickly add the ability for organizers to specify their unique designs for their unique events. Coupled with indieVelo’s extensive support for series and stage racing, this now takes these events to another level for riders, broadcasters, and spectators alike.
Here’s how to get indieVelo on your AppleTV!
1) Anyone with access to indieVelo on iOS (iPhone/iPad) should now automatically be able to access the AppleTV version too. Simply download TestFlight from the AppStore on your AppleTV, and indieVelo should be there waiting for you to run.
2) Anyone who is a member of the indieVelo Founders Club but doesn’t have access to the Apple versions of indieVelo can email: help@indievelo.com with the email address they use in the AppStore and will receive instructions.
3) Anyone not yet an indieVelo Founders Club member should click here to join, then email me as above.
As usual, there are also a wide range of other additions, improvements and fixes in this weeks release. This includes a better UI, increased support for hardware, constantly improving AI for the bots, and plenty more checks and balances to keep everything running smoothly and easy to use as indieVelo continues to rapidly scale up in size.
Before wrapping up, indieVelo’s developer also wanted to say a huge welcome and thank you to all the new riders who have recently joined. With now well over 30,000 riders on indieVelo, it is truly humbling to see the difference we’re making together to define the future of virtual sport.
Note for Mac Bluetooth users: If you find that the Bluetooth icon on the pairing screen has turned red, please follow the instructions linked from
https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/apple-mac-ble-permissions/
to first completely remove, and then re-add, permission for indieVelo to use the Mac Bluetooth connection.

If all has gone well, then you shouldn’t have to do anything to get the new version, as indieVelo will just self-update the next time you start it up. If you find any problems however, instructions on how to manually update are on the website: https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/updates
