The latest indieVelo update V0.2.15 released September 18, 2023, introduces 2 new features empowering individual users to easily create custom events!
One of the unique features of indieVelo is the ability for everyone to have complete control over creating their custom events. No need to rely on, or wait for, anyone else – select the options you want, and you can be riding your own event in a few minutes – whatever you want, whenever you want.
With more and more people using indieVelo, ensuring this is as easy as possible for everyone is ever more essential. This week’s release (see below for full details), therefore, focuses on two key new features for custom events:
Private events: Anyone can now create a private event secured with an access code. When creating a new custom event, you can now select a code and then send it to only the riders you want to ride in your event – perhaps only your friends/teammates, or maybe only those who qualified to ride in your event by competing in a previous one – the choice is yours.
The event won’t even be visible to anyone else, and only by entering the code (into a new field on the rider racing license page) will your selected riders be able to see it and join.
Copying Events: Anyone who has previously created a custom event can now easily duplicate it by copying the details.
It makes putting on regularly occurring events incredibly easy to organize – just set up the details once, then copy them each week, and you only need to update the date (and anything else you wish to change – such as the route). You can instantly create a new event.
If all has gone well, you shouldn’t have to do anything to get the new version, as indieVelo will self-update the next time you start it up. If you find any problems, however, instructions on how to manually update are on the website: https://wiki.indievelo.com/docs/updates
Please note that, depending on when you installed indieVelo, you may see a warning message recommending that you update the installer/launcher to the latest version. If you see this, download it again from https://indievelo.com/downloads, and the update will automatically apply. The entire process typically takes a minute or two, often much less.
The full patch notes are below!
“As always, on top of these headline new features, there’s the usual array of quality-of-life improvements and fixes – this week, everything from the ability to select what file format to use for screenshots to addressing an issue causing an internet provider to block some updates occasionally.
Based on your suggestions and feedback, we continually improve indieVelo, so please keep sharing your thoughts to help us make online cycling the best it can be.“
