A memorial ride to celebrate the life of passionate elite cyclist Kris Yip who was tragically taken way too soon.
Ride In Peace (June 21, 1975 - January 18, 2023)
In the words of Kris Yip – “Crush It!”
This group ride is in honour of Kris Yip who passed away suddenly on January 18th. Kris was an avid and passionate cyclist that had an impact on the global cycling community. He could be found riding all disciplines of cycling from road to gravel, fat bike to virtual in any season.
An elite cyclist who got his start as a junior in his hometown of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. Kris competed and excelled at all levels. As recently as last year he qualified to represent Canada at the 2022 UCI Esports World Championships. His racing exploits secured him a spot racing with the Wahoo Le Col team this year.
Never to shine a light on himself, he was more known for his sportsmanship and mentorship. No matter another cyclist’s abilities, he was always there to support and encourage everyone to attain their goals and enjoy the sport he so dearly loved.
On Sunday, the cycling community will gather to honour and remember the life of Canadian cyclist Kris Yip. Riders can join from all around the world to pay their respects to Kris, who was taken from us too soon.
The ride will be a 60-minute group ride and will begin at 17:00 GMT, 13:00 Eastern and 09:00 Western. All riders are welcome, no matter their ability or experience level. The goal is to come together and celebrate Kris’ life and what he meant to the cycling community.
The route will be RGV in France, the ride will be free of judgment or competition, and will provide a space for riders to share stories, memories, and experiences of Kris.
At the end of the ride (minute 58), we shall pull to a stop on the side of the road, and there will be a moment of silence to reflect on Kris’ life and to celebrate all he has done for the cycling community.
We invite all riders to join us on Sunday to honor Kris Yip and all he has done.
May we ride on in his memory.
